The Breast and Prostate Cancer Peer Education Program provides education to men and woman ages 50-74 about breast and prostate cancer. Learn more about: • The risks for breast and prostate cancer • When and where to be screened for breast cancer • How to obtain free breast cancer screening if uninsured • Why older men should talk with their doctor about prostate cancer The Breast and Prostate Cancer Peer Education Program is part of a state-wide effort using local, peer educators to speak with men and women in their communities about breast and prostate cancer. Supported with funds the New York State Department of Health, this education initiative aims to help women better understand the need for regular breast cancer screening, and access screening if appropriate, and educate men about prostate cancer and encourage them to speak to their health care provider.
