We are looking for a volunteers to dress as Piggie & Gerald, or to be their guide for a special program on June 11th, beginning at 10 am. Dressed as the beloved Mo Willems characters, you will encourage the children with questions and help with the planned activity. Due to the Severe Storm Watch issued for Dutchess County by the National Weather Service, this afternoon’s meeting of Wide World of Stories for grades K-2 has been rescheduled for next Monday, 5/23, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM. In addition, the 5/30 meeting of the program will be moved to 6/6 due to Memorial Day closures. Wide World of Stories Kits will continue as scheduled. Have you heard? We’re back in person at the library! The full schedule of Spring Children’s programs for children ten and under is now available. Plus, we’re offering a series of parent and caregiver support programs too! We’re continuing to offer our popular activity kit programs, as well as occasional digital events. However, most of our events will now be held in person, both outside and indoors. To view all our Spring offerings and to register online, click here to visit our Spring Programs Guide. Registration is required for all programming. The program cycle will run April 7 – June 3, with a few special events before and after this period. Registration is rolling, as space is available.
Silly and fun performance featuring musicians from The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra. Designed for grades K-3 and their families. Got an interested youth slightly older or younger? Saturday, April 2, from 4:30 – 5:30 PM – Pawling Library Register here The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra proudly presents… Symphony Storytime is an entertaining and educational family program featuring musicians from The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra. This interactive, 50 minute program is designed for children in grades K-3 accompanied by an adult. The program pairs the reading of an award-winning picture book with music inspired by the story and performed by the musicians. The music will include familiar tunes, classical riffs, witty musical improvisations and funny sound effects – moving the story along at a lively pace. Children will also participate in activities related to the book and presentations on instruments of the orchestra. Pre-registration is required. Dutchess County Recycling Educator, Kerry Russell gets specific about why recycling matters and how it works in Pawling! About this event Tuesday, 04/12, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM Outdoors, weather permitting. Otherwise indoors. Spend Spring Break learning to help our planet! Ever wonder what happens to the items we recycle? Want to know more about why we recycle? Dutchess County Recycling Educator, Kerry Russell will talk with us about why recycling matters and show us some of the ways recycled things are reused. Learn what types of things can be recycled in our county and what needs to be thrown in the trash. This program is designed for elementary aged children and their families. Caregivers welcome. Registration for Winter Children’s Programs now Open! The winter program cycle will run nine weeks: January 25 – March 25. Sunday, 2/13, 12:00 PM & 5:00 PM All ages welcome, best for families with children six and under Laurie Berkner, Hudson Valley resident and mega-star of the children’s music scene is hosting an interactive Virtual Concert this Valentine’s Day. She’s been on Nickelodeon, toured the US, and written hits like “We are the Dinosaurs” and “I’m Gonna Catch You.” To help support at-home learning this winter, the Pawling Free Library will be providing a limited number of virtual concert tickets to local families. To reserve a ticket, click here. You will need an internet connected device to stream the concert remotely. Only one ticket per family; one ticket includes access to both concert times for one device and should be enough for the whole family. Ballet Hispánico’s Virtual Performance for Young People We’re bringing NYC Dance to Pawling! All ages welcome at our the upcoming Virtual Performance by Ballet Hispánico. Tickets are available at no cost, thanks to the Mid-Hudson Library System. A premier NYC dance company and the largest Latinx cultural organization in the United States, “Ballet Hispánico brings communities together to celebrate and explore Latino cultures through innovative dance productions, transformative dance training, and enduring community engagement experiences.” The live, virtual event will take audiences on a guided journey through Latinx dance and culture. Have you visited the StoryWalk® set up at Pawling Recreation’s Lakeside Park? Take a family walk and read along to Hiking Day by Anne Rockwell. If you do visit, please don’t forget to leave us a message in our tracking book.
