Bubble Bus Party!

Looking for something to do while schools are closed on Tuesday, October 11? Got a preschooler or toddler who loves to dance and bubbles? Bubble Bus Party Free! Register here Tuesday, 10/11 on the day off from school 1:00-3:00 PM at Pawling Recreation’s Lakeside Park 2 Lakeside Drive, Pawling NY 12564 Join us on 10/11 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM for a special visit from the Bubble Bus. This one-of-a kind bus sprays hundreds of thousands of bubbles and is like no other bubble experience. A huge hit for all ages, the bubble bus is a fun time for kids to dance, run, and pop their way through a field of bubbles. In addition, the Pawling Library team will be on hand connecting our bubble play back to learning, getting kids to think about mindfulness and stress relief through bubbles and books! Meet a Mermaid at Lakeside Park!

This program is designed for families and youth of all ages. Saturday, 7/16, 1:30 -2:30 PM – Location: Lakeside Park Beachfront, 2 Lakeside Drive, Pawling NY 12564 Stop by the Lakeside beach for this magical event. Our mermaid friends will read, sing, and play with us, as well as provide opportunities for participants to ask questions and do individual meet-and-greets. This interactive program is paid for in part by Dutchess County as part of our Literacy Heroes series and will be held at Lakeside Park. Sponsored in partnership with Pawling Recreation and the Pawling Library. Please bring a blanket or beach chairs to sit on for the event. RESCHEDULED: Wide World of Stories

Due to the Severe Storm Watch issued for Dutchess County by the National Weather Service, this afternoon’s meeting of Wide World of Stories for grades K-2 has been rescheduled for next Monday, 5/23, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM. In addition, the 5/30 meeting of the program will be moved to 6/6 due to Memorial Day closures. Wide World of Stories Kits will continue as scheduled. Laurie Berkner Valentine’s Concert

Sunday, 2/13, 12:00 PM & 5:00 PM All ages welcome, best for families with children six and under Laurie Berkner, Hudson Valley resident and mega-star of the children’s music scene is hosting an interactive Virtual Concert this Valentine’s Day. She’s been on Nickelodeon, toured the US, and written hits like “We are the Dinosaurs” and “I’m Gonna Catch You.” To help support at-home learning this winter, the Pawling Free Library will be providing a limited number of virtual concert tickets to local families. To reserve a ticket, click here.  You will need an internet connected device to stream the concert remotely. Only one ticket per family; one ticket includes access to both concert times for one device and should be enough for the whole family. Tickets are available at no cost, thanks to the Mid-Hudson Library System. A premier NYC dance company and the largest Latinx cultural organization in the United States, “Ballet Hispánico brings communities together to celebrate and explore Latino cultures through innovative dance productions, transformative dance training, and enduring community engagement experiences.” The live, virtual event will take audiences on a guided journey through Latinx dance and culture. This interactive, fun-filled exploration features excerpts of the Ballet Hispánico’s repertoire dance performances narrated by the company’s artistic leadership. Have you visited the StoryWalk® set up at Pawling Recreation’s Lakeside Park? Take a family walk and read along to Hiking Day by Anne Rockwell. If you do visit, please don’t forget to leave us a message in our tracking book. Socially Distant Santa and Mrs. Claus

December 11th, 2021, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, by 10 minute appointment Get ready to bundle up and share your wish lists! Our annual visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus is ON! To keep all involved as safe as possible, families will visit outside under a tent, one at time, while Santa and Mrs. Claus stay inside and chat through an open window. This set-up was a huge hit last year and we know Santa and Mrs. Claus look forward to visiting Pawling.  Registration for 10 minute windows is highly recommended, as walk-ins will be permitted only as space is available. Make Gel Stars

This October, we’re hosting some exciting after school programming for youth ages 6-10! Mad Science: Gel Creators (Ages 6-10 years) Thursday, 10/28, 4:00-5:00 PM – Digital/Kit Learn about gels & how they are made as we do science together over Zoom. Harden liquids like magic and show off your creations to other kids. Supplies and instructions will be provided, though caregiver supervision is recommended, especially for developing readers.
