Socially Distant Santa and Mrs. Claus

December 11th, 2021, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, by 10 minute appointment Get ready to bundle up and share your wish lists! Our annual visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus is ON! To keep all involved as safe as possible, families will visit outside under a tent, one at time, while Santa and Mrs. Claus stay inside and chat through an open window. This set-up was a huge hit last year and we know Santa and Mrs. Claus look forward to visiting Pawling.  Registration for 10 minute windows is highly recommended, as walk-ins will be permitted only as space is available. Make Gel Stars

This October, we’re hosting some exciting after school programming for youth ages 6-10! Mad Science: Gel Creators (Ages 6-10 years) Thursday, 10/28, 4:00-5:00 PM – Digital/Kit Learn about gels & how they are made as we do science together over Zoom. Harden liquids like magic and show off your creations to other kids. Supplies and instructions will be provided, though caregiver supervision is recommended, especially for developing readers. The final event in the Mid-Hudson Library System Storytime Series this year will be our visit with Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Meet the princess virtually on Thursday, 10/14, at 4:30 PM or watch on-demand, anytime. Princess Belle will read a story, sing songs, and talk about life in the castle. Family Block Party: Celebrate the end of summer!

Summer programs have come to a close, so join us for our end of summer celebration! Wizard of Oz Family Block Party: Saturday, August 28th, 12:30 – 3:00 PM Lakeside Park: 2 Lakeside Drive Pawling, New York 12564 Join us under the Lakeside pavilion for a free event featuring bouncy castle, rainbow water play area, dunk tank, crafts, lawn games, snacks, and a prize raffle for major prizes like local gift cards, toys, and a Kindle Fire. There will be a Wizard of Oz themed costume contest, which all ages are welcome to join!  No registration is required, so stop by and play with us, even if only for a little while! Thank you to the Donaldson Trust and Pawling Centennial Committee for sponsoring this event.

Meet a Superhero!

Avengers, assemble! Captain Marvel will be stopping by our Facebook Live storytime group today, Thursday, 8/12/21 at 4:30 PM EST to share stories about her adventures and chat with families about her awesome superhero life! Beat the heat inside as Captain Marvel responds to children’s questions and comments by name! Can’t make the live show? A recording will be available in the storytime group shortly after the airing. This program is part of our Mid-Hudson Library System Princess and Superhero storytime series. The next special guests will be Supergirl on September 9th and Belle from Beauty and the Beast on October 14. Thank you to our partner libraries and Parties with Character for making this program series accessible for our community.  

Thank you Summer Readers!

WOW! Thank you to our Tails and Tales Summer Readers who read over 33,000 minutes (550 hours) this summer to earn our library a new marketplace learning center!   Plus, the Kid’s Team Won the Reading Challenge! The marketplace is now available for families to use in our children’s area. It is designed to help our preschool and toddler patrons learn through play and will feature rotating themes of play such as grocery store, tools and repair, and a flower shop. The repair shop is open now, with alphabet locks, gears, and a pint-sized tool box. Stop by and check it out! To wrap up the program: At the close of our six week Tails and Tales Summer Reading Challenge, the kid’s team won the Summer Reading Crown for the second summer in a row! Congrats to everyone on the kid’s team who each earned an extra raffle ticket for our big prize raffle and bragging rights as the reading champions!
