This program is designed for families and youth of all ages. Our mermaid friends will read, sing, and play with us, as well as provide opportunities for participants to ask questions and do individual meet-and-greets. This interactive program is paid for in part by Dutchess County as part of our Literacy Heroes series and will be held at Lakeside Park. The Pawling Library’s Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Challenge begins on Monday, June 20th! Register online and count the time you spend reading all summer! Due to the Severe Storm Watch issued for Dutchess County by the National Weather Service, this afternoon’s meeting of Wide World of Stories for grades K-2 has been rescheduled for next Monday, 5/23, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM. In addition, the 5/30 meeting of the program will be moved to 6/6 due to Memorial Day closures. Wide World of Stories Kits will continue as scheduled. Have you heard? We’re back in person at the library! The full schedule of Spring Children’s programs for children ten and under is now available. Plus, we’re offering a series of parent and caregiver support programs too! We’re continuing to offer our popular activity kit programs, as well as occasional digital events. This interactive, 50 minute program is designed for children in grades K-3 accompanied by an adult. The program pairs the reading of an award-winning picture book with music inspired by the story and performed by the musicians. The music will include familiar tunes, classical riffs, witty musical improvisations and funny sound effects – moving the story along at a lively pace. Children will also participate in activities related to the book and presentations on instruments of the orchestra. Pre-registration is required. This program is a series of 6 take home kits; pre-prepped learning activities for children entering grades Kindergarten – 5th grade in Fall 2022 to do at home with a caregiver. To participate, a caregiver must pick each kit up from the library once they are available. Families can register for all the weeks or individual weeks. Take science learning to a new level with these kits made by expert science teachers at Steve Spangler Science! Each week, pick up a new kit including everything you need to turn your home into a science lab. Some experiments may be messy. Caregiver oversight is recommended.

Let’s do painting…with water! This kit will include everything you need to produce a unique tissue art painting, simply by adding water.
On Friday mornings, toddlers rule the library! This six week program includes songs, stories, and games plus a play-based learning stations, like art or parachute play. The program or portions thereof may be held outside in our courtyard to utilize our outdoor play equipment as weather allows but fully move indoors if conditions are poor. Please dress for the weather, with sunscreen and bring water.
