It’s PARTY TIME! The Beautiful Elephant

Saturday, November 3, 2018, 5:30 pm-6:15 pm– Main Library It’s time to party! Celebrate the release of a new local children’s book with us! Stop in for light refreshments, children’s activities, and the first ever library reading of “The Beautiful Elephant!” This wonderful story highlights the importance of loving yourself, and self care; great messages for children and caregivers alike. Local author/illustrator team Jennifer Lohrfink Morfea and Erik Draw will be in the library to read the story aloud and demonstrate how they create the words and pictures together. We will have crafts, a raffle for prizes, and even snacks–all free! Families with children of all ages are welcome, but the book will be of most interest to children ages 6 and up. An adult must remain in the library with children under ten at all times.

Our glow-in-the-dark slime program scheduled for 10/27/18, from 2:00-3:00 pm has been moved from it’s original location! Now, we will be making slime at Pawling’s Lakeside Park Recreation Center in the Green Parlor as part of the Center’s Trick or Treat Halloween event. The Blue Olive: An Olive Oil and Vinegar Tasting Seminar

Tuesday, October 16 7:00-8:30 pm The Pawling Library will host The Blue Olive for another special event exploring the many ways to use extra virgin olive oil and aged vinegar. Co-founder John Canevari will lead an interactive tasting seminar to guide the class through several unique palette-pleasing recipes. Guests will have the opportunity to taste each recipe and take notes on the preparation and cooking process used to create each dish. The Blue Olive is excited to share brand new products and fantastic recipes from their test kitchen with new cooks and experienced chefs alike. Program fee: $10.00. Please join us! Floral Arranging with Erica

Tuesday, September 25 7:00-8:30 pm During this fun-filled workshop we will be using a variety of interesting autumn flowers to create a burst of color that will draw attention and beautify the home. In addition, you’ll also learn essential tips on flower purchasing and care. Note: Participants should bring SMALL SHARP clippers and or scissors. Some might wish to wear an apron. Material fee: $15.00. Containers will be provided. About our presenter: Erica was the owner of The Flower Market in Westchester County for more than 20 years. She provided flowers and event planning, from simple occasions to high profile venues that included The Pierre and The Rainbow Room in New York City to, locally, Tappan Hill, The Kittle House and the Westchester Country Club. Stop the Bleed

Presented by Joseph A. Ryan Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response   Tuesday, September 18 7:00-9:00 pm Stop the Bleed is intended to encourage bystanders to become empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop the blood loss by any means necessary. Participants will receive “hands on” training in the proper use of direct pressure, wound packing and tourniquets. Registration is required.
