Have you heard? We’re back in person at the library! The full schedule of Spring Children’s programs for children ten and under is now available. Plus, we’re offering a series of parent and caregiver support programs too! We’re continuing to offer our popular activity kit programs, as well as occasional digital events. Saturday, April 2, from 4:30 – 5:30 PM – Pawling Library Register here The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra proudly presents… Symphony Storytime is an entertaining and educational family program featuring musicians from The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra. This interactive, 50 minute program is designed for children in grades K-3 accompanied by an adult. The program pairs the reading of an award-winning picture book with music inspired by the story and performed by the musicians. The music will include familiar tunes, classical riffs, witty musical improvisations and funny sound effects – moving the story along at a lively pace. Children will also participate in activities related to the book and presentations on instruments of the orchestra. Pre-registration is required. Sunday, 2/13, 12:00 PM & 5:00 PM All ages welcome, best for families with children six and under Laurie Berkner, Hudson Valley resident and mega-star of the children’s music scene is hosting an interactive Virtual Concert this Valentine’s Day. She’s been on Nickelodeon, toured the US, and written hits like “We are the Dinosaurs” and “I’m Gonna Catch You.” To help support at-home learning this winter, the Pawling Free Library will be providing a limited number of virtual concert tickets to local families. Only one ticket per family; one ticket includes access to both concert times for one device and should be enough for the whole family. To keep all involved as safe as possible, families will visit outside under a tent, one at time, while Santa and Mrs. Claus stay inside and chat through an open window. This set-up was a huge hit last year and we know Santa and Mrs. Claus look forward to visiting Pawling. This October, we’re hosting some exciting after school programming for youth ages 6-10! Mad Science: Gel Creators (Ages 6-10 years) Thursday, 10/28, 4:00-5:00 PM – Digital/Kit Learn about gels & how they are made as we do science together over Zoom. Harden liquids like magic and show off your creations to other kids. Supplies and instructions will be provided, though caregiver supervision is recommended, especially for developing readers. The final event in the Mid-Hudson Library System Storytime Series this year will be our visit with Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
