Caregiver Programming: Free General Parent Support Group* • For Parents of children 0-5 years old • Thursdays, 1:00 pm, June 4 – July 9 over Zoom Registration Required – Click here to sign up online or email children@pawlinglibrary.org for assistance Our library has partnered with experienced therapist and support group leader, Stephanie Sandler, PH D, LMHC of Becoming Mental Health Counseling, and other area libraries to provide caregivers a supportive space for themselves. Join a community of parents dealing with the unexpected hurdles of parenting young children during the Coronavirus epidemic together. During a time of increased isolation, finding ways to connect with other parents and families with common experiences can be refreshing and beneficial. This program is participant driven, and it is recommended for optimal support that participants attend as regularly as they are able. However, interested caregivers are welcome to attend as few or as many as they can. Changing Habits with Self-Hypnosis: A two-part online presentation 

Presented by Susan Olin-Dabrowski Tuesday, May 19 & Thursday, May 21 Time: 7:00-8:00 pm Self-hypnosis is a powerful technique that brings you  in touch with your subconscious mind, the part of the mind responsible for habits.  During this presentation you’ll learn about the hypnotist’s model of the mind and how to successfully harness the power of your subconscious to create the change you desire.  Through guided group hypnosis we’ll be exploring motivating energy for habit change, empowering memories, and a positive vision of the future self.  Using the principles of positive self-hypnosis participants will create effective personalized auto-suggestions to use in self-hypnosis. We’ll examine a variety of techniques for entering into the hypnotic state and how to use auto-suggestions. Time at the end of the second class will be reserved questions.  Participants should have pen and paper with them as there is some writing involved. Meditation with Maria / Online Program

Wednesday, May 13 6:30-7:30 pm This guided meditation, brought to us by the calming voice and words of Maria Polhemus, is intended to promote relaxation. Please join us for this soothing program to help you to release unwanted tension. Wearing headphones or earbuds is recommended for this presentation. NOTE: To participate in our online meditation, you must first register by emailing Donald at adult@pawlinglibrary.org and then follow the directions below.  Before the day of the program, Donald will email you a link to the program with the date & time the program will take place. On the day of the program, click on the link Donald sent a few minutes before the program begins.  Download the free Zoom app onto your smartphone, tablet or computer.  You will be placed in a virtual waiting room and Donald will admit you before the program begins. Once you are admitted to the program, you will be able to see and hear everything going on in the presentation! That’s it!  It’s very easy.

For caregivers, learning to decode messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language can help both parties to connect and communicate in meaningful ways. Meet a Ballerina Story Hour

Friday, 2/28, 1:00-2:00 pm Local ballerina, dance teacher, and reading role model Rachel Hamdan will stop by the library for a very special story hour. She will bring costumes, shoes, and go over a few basic moves with attendees. In addition, she will read a favorite dancing story book and discuss why she LOVES to read! We suggest families discuss what questions kids may want to ask Rachel, as there will be time for Q&A. Caregivers are required to remain in the library for the duration of the program.
