Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books 2017

EDIT: The age rules have been changed for the High School Battle.

Pawling Library will be participating in Battle of the Books again this year, with both a middle school and a high school team. Anyone entering 6th thru 9th grade in fall 2017 is eligible for the middle school team, and anyone entering 9th thru freshman year of college in fall 2017 is eligible for the High School Team. If you are entering 9th grade, you can choose which team you would like to compete with. Students who are home-schooled or in other non-traditional schooling may join the high school team if they are between the ages of 14 and 18.

Battle of the Books is a fun competition between library communities. Participants read a selection of books and compete in an epic trivia battle against other teams. This spring, team members will begin reading the books and get together to discuss the books and learn the rules of the battle. In the summer we will meet for practice battles against ourselves and against neighboring libraries to prepare for the final battle.

Joining the Battle of the Books requires a commitment to try to read all of the books before the date of the final battle, to try to attend all of the meetings, and to take your role as a team member seriously.

Spring Meeting Dates:

April 22

Middle School: 3:00-4:00 PM

High School: 4:30-5:30 PM

May 20

Middle School: 3:00-4:00 PM

High School: 4:30-5:30 PM

Meeting dates and times for the summer will be determined in an effort to work with the schedules of as many team members as possible. The Middle School team will meet weekly during July and August. The High School team will have more autonomy over deciding how often they meet.
