The book club will be discussing the novel Mrs. Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf.

As the book was written in The Roaring Twenties, when our library came into being, we are dedicating this April gathering of Inspiring Works by Women Writers to the Pawling Library’s 100-year anniversary.

We thank you, our patrons, for being with us over the years, and look forward to seeing you at this and our many programs and events to come.

About our book club:

Are you interested in reading and discussing novels, plays, and poems by women? Then this is your Book Club! This is a fun opportunity to indulge in some great works by women writers.

We will begin each discussion with a little background history and tidbits on each female writer. I’ll ask a few questions to get us started and then it’s an open forum. My hope is that together we gain a little more insight into these books (and perhaps the authors as well).

Some of these books you may know well. Some may be books you always meant to read and never got around to! It does not matter how expert you are with the works or the authors. If you are passionate about discussing books and would like to build up your repertoire of works by women, this might be the perfect place to start. To quote Mary Shelley: “The beginning is always today.”
