Special Events
Wednesdays, September 24 & October 8
6:30 pm - 8 pm
Kickstart your college essay with confidence. In this session, students will explore meaningful experiences, identify potential story angles, and learn how to turn their ideas into compelling essay topics. We will cover what colleges look for in student essays and use writing exercises to unlock authentic narratives. Each student will leave with an essay topic and outline.
Once you have your draft, it's time to Polish Your Essay. For the second workshop, bring your rough draft and get ready to revise! This session focuses on strengthening your essay for maximum impact. We’ll work on structure, tone, voice, and clarity. Students will receive peer and instructor feedback to elevate their writing to the next level.
Meghan Daniels will lead these workshops. She graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. with distinction in English and earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Hunter College, where she was an instructor in the English department. Meghan s currently a college essay consultant at Freudigman & Billings, LLC; an instructor in the English department at Westchester Community College; and a freelance content marketing consultant. Her creative writing has appeared or is forthcoming in The Masters Review and The Sun. She lives in Pawling with her family.

Enter the mysterious world of Project Frankenstein, an escape game packed with thrilling puzzles, eerie twists, and electrifying discoveries. Players will work together to decode clues, solve experiments, and discover the process behind creating the monster.
Designed to boost problem-solving, teamwork, and imagination, Project Frankenstein is more than just a game—it’s an unforgettable experience you’ll talk about long after the final puzzle is solved.
This game is recommended for ages 12 - 16.
Weekly Programs

We are offering this drop-in and play time for players ages 8 through adult and for all skill levels. Walk-ins are welcome.
Please note: We will meet in the main Library building whenever possible. While registration is not required, those who are registered will received updates for inclement weather or if the meeting location is moved to the Annex.

Monthly Programs
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteens is a year-round volunteer opportunity for ages 11 & up. The group meets twice a month to plan or work on service projects to benefit the Library and the Pawling community. Since the group started, they have had a litter collection in the Village, planned and ran our 2024 Summer Reading Kick-Off, wrapped all the books given as gifts during our annual visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus as well as helped at the party, offer weekly computer help, bi-weekly Reading Buddies, made take & make kits for our Children's Area and had a donation drive for a local animal shelter. New members are always welcome.
Meeting dates: The first and third Wednesday of each month at 5 pm to 6:30 pm. There may be additional dates depending on the project.
