Haunted Library Saturday, October 28 11:00 – 3:00 PM All ages and a caregiver Stop by the library during your trick or treat adventures around town for a library full of gentle fun for kids and families. Explore our spooky decorations, play some games, create a Halloween craft or two, and trick or treat at the circulation desk. Plus, our friend Lola the library owl will make an appearance to hand out treats. This passive event will take place all throughout the main library and drop-ins are welcome! No registration is required, just stop in for a fang-tastic good time.

Free Family Concert by the Lake: Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could

Literacy Heroes Family Concert: Brady Rymer and the Little Band that Could (Families and all ages) Saturday, 9/24, 1:30 -2:15 PM during Pawling Rotary’s Fall Festival *This event held at Lakeside Park, 2 Lakeside Drive, Pawling, NY 12564* 3-time Grammy nominees, Brady Rymer and the Little Band that could are stellar performers, creating upbeat, fun music ideal for the whole family. Join us, free on Saturday, September 24, 1:30 – 2:15 PM at Lakeside Park for a 45 minute show by Brady and the band during the Pawling Rotary Fall Festival. Bring your own seating for this fall edition of music by the lake, partially sponsored by the library, Pawling Rotary, Dutchess County and Pawling Recreation. Drop-ins welcome. New Story Time Bites Available

Story Time Bites are short videos featuring one song, rhyme, or story, designed to help develop early literacy skills from home. These videos teach caregivers and children new rhymes to do offline at home, in the car, or at the playground. Plus kids love these digital visits from Ms. Neena! We’re sure you’ll love our two newest videos, “Put a Puppet on Your Head” and “Leaves on the Trees.”

Register for Fall Children’s Programs!

Fall Children’s Programs Registration starts 9/2  Programs run 9 weeks: 9/21-11/21 Children’s programs are back! And now that we’ve got a few seasons of virtual programming under our belt, we’re on a roll! Upcoming favorites include our Dogman Digital Escape Room, weekly Kindergarten readiness story hour, and our Grow a Reader Kits for babies and toddlers. Our schedule includes a variety of programs for children ages 0-10 years. We offer live Zoom programs, fully prepped activity kits you can use at home, and even some upcoming surprises! All our programming is free and education focused. The Wonderful World of Bats!

Wednesday, 10/9, from 11:00-12:00 pm Bat educator Jerry Schneider will introduce us to the exotic world of bats and echolocation. Children will create unique bat t-shirts, using a combination of fabric dye sprays, plants, and cut outs. Children may purchase white t-shirts for $4.00, or bring their own. This program is open to anyone ages 5 and up.  Registration is required–call or visit our online registration portal at https://forms.gle/vk4HdLNrnGmizcU96 to sign up. Registration is now open for Fall 2019 Children’s Programs. Low cost, educational programs are available for children birth-fourth grade. Fall will run nine weeks from September 23-November 23, with special December programs to follow, including Santa’s visit. Lottery registration will run September 9-16, with rolling registration to follow as space is available. Now that the school year is in full swing and the leaves have begun to change, we’re starting back up with the Fall season of Children’s Programs. Registration opens today and will run through September 19th. If you miss this window, don’t worry! You can still sign up for programs as space is available. To enter our lottery for program placement, download and fill out our Fall Registration Form at https://www.pawlingfreelibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/PFL-Fall-2017-Childrens-Registration.pdf. You can return it to the library by fax, email (at children@pawlinglibrary.org), or by returning it in person at the circulation desk. The circulation desk will also have copies of the form on hand for you to fill out if you stop by to register for the lottery in person.
