Coop Program: Rainbow Valley Eclipse Presentation Friday, 04/05, 1:30-2:30 pm Main Library/ Library Annex with Neena This is a field trip for the Rainbow Valley Homeschool Co-op, for ages 6-13. Join Library Children’s Program Coordinator Neena McBaer for an exploration of solar eclipses in advance of the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. This program will include a short presentation about solar eclipses, highlighting what to expect when safely viewing a solar eclipse and explaining this amazing, rare phenomenon. After, youth and families will be invited to participate in several hands-on activities, including a virtual eclipse simulator, estimation games, and making a pinhole camera.

Homeschool Space: Elementary Third Thursday of the Month (04/18, 05/16, & 6/20), 1:00-2:00 PM – Neena, Library Annex Age range: Homeschoolers ages 5-10, or those homeschooling in Kindergarten – 4th grade. Each month, homeschoolers come together to work on a fun, engaging project with friends and other homeschoolers in our region. The theme for April’s meeting is local birds. Kids will learn about birds local to our region through play. To close the program, kids will make bird inspired window clings to help keeps safe from crashing into windows. Registration is required. Please register for each month you wish to attend independently.

Homeschool Space: Elementary Third Thursday of the Month (04/18, 05/16, & 6/20), 1:00-2:00 PM – Neena, Library Annex Age range: Homeschoolers ages 5-10, or those homeschooling in Kindergarten – 4th grade. Each month, homeschoolers come together to work on a fun, engaging project with friends and other homeschoolers in our region. The theme for June’s meeting is storytelling using robotics. In small groups, kids will work together to use our indi robots and ozobot in order to retell favorite fairy tales. After our regular hour of programming, we invite program participants to join us for a casual homeschool moving up ceremony with their peers. As the “official” school year comes to a close, we will celebrate all that kids have learned and present each one with an unofficial certificate of achievement! Snacks and good vibes will be included. Registration is required. Please register for each month you wish to attend independently.
