Are your tickets entered for the summer reading raffle?

REMINDER: Our first raffle in our Summer Reading Challenge will be 7/15! If you’ve been logging your reading online or with a paper log, you’ve been earning raffle tickets to win prizes in our raffles! But have you stopped by the library to fill them out and pick up your other prizes? Want a chance to win? Kids and teens who have leveled up in the Summer Reading Challenge will need to stop by the library before 7/15 to pick up prizes and enter their raffle tickets or contact program coordinator Neena to redeem their tickets. Adult participants do not need to stop by; their tickets are automatically entered for them! For the 7/15 raffle, you could win tickets to games from awesome area teams like the Hudson Valley Renegades, New York Red Bulls, and Danbury Westerners. Got questions? Community Book Read: A Passage to India with Stephanie Rogers / Online Program

We have selected four classic novels, one for each season, that were popular in the 1920s when our library first came into being. Our presenter, Stephanie Rogers, will be reading an excerpt from each novel and then lead a Q & A for our audience. Stephanie Rogers is the author of The Horse I Belong To: How a Misused and Almost Forgotten Grade Mare Showed Me the Way. Summer Reading Update: Almost at Community Goal!

The Tails and Tales Summer Reading Challenge is well underway. In fact, we have almost met our community goal!  With a group total of 19,708 minutes, we need just a little more help to earn our new kid’s area play set. Here are the team standings: Image is of three cats looking at a fishbowl. The colors on their tails show how much progress each team has made logging reading time. From left to right the cats are adults, kids, and teens. First Place: Kids (12, 214 minutes) Second Place: Adults (6,975 minutes) Third Place: Teens (519 minutes) Great things happen when we work together! When we hit 20,000, we will earn our community prize, plus new raffle prizes will be added to the pot for you to win, like gift cards to McKinney and Doyle. Kids Take the Lead in Summer Reading Challenge

BIG NEWS! The Kids (ages 0-10) now lead in our Tails and Tales Summer Reading Challenge!  What age group can read the most this summer? Here are the standings: First Place: Kids (6,205 minutes) Second Place: Adults (2,960 minutes) Third Place: Teens (300 minutes) Together, our community has read 9,465 minutes this summer! We’re almost halfway to our goal of 20,000 minutes! Keep up the great work! Want to get involved and help your team? Want to win free books and other prizes? Join the contest by logging the time you spend reading and learning this summer. You can log online here, print a paper reading log, or pick one up from the library front desk.

Tails and Tales Summer Learning Challenge Are you looking for a way to keep yourself or your family engaged in reading over the summer break? Curious about how you can make a difference in our community without leaving home? Maybe you’re competitive and really want to win prizes or earn brag tags to show off your reading progress. Whatever your motivation, our summer reading program can meet your needs! Want competition? Minutes read between June 21 and August 21 will be logged for three teams, the kids, teens, and adults! The team that reads the most minutes will be crowned Summer Reading Champions, and earn extra raffle tickets for the awesome prizes we’re giving away, like a Kindle Fire and local gift cards. Youth readers will also earn brag tags and prizes like tickets to Danbury Westerners games and books. Want to help the community? To finish off the Imagine Your Story Summer Reading Program, we let Pawling choose the end of one more great adventure. This time around, Dragon Phil, Unicorn Carla, and Fairy Neena gathered to compete in the Fantasy Olympics. The event–who can find the hidden object in the pie fastest? Did you know that Donald Partelow, our adult program coordinator, also illustrates books and creates wonderful art? Well, this last week, as part of our Imagine Your Story Summer Reading Challenge, we let Pawling decide what Donald would draw for our Community. Teen Coordinator, Phil Prout, let Pawling vote for what historical style he should use for his disguise as he heads back in time to visit his Pawling relatives from the 1800s.  Since there were two winning looks, Phil did them both!
