There’s an ocean of possibilities in the library this summer. Will you join in on the fun and spend time logging your reading minutes to help your team achieve victory and earn our community summer reading prizes?
The Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Challenge will launch June 20th. You can join us and log your family’s reading time online here or with a paper tracking form. Teens and tweens ages 11-18, should use the online program log.
It’s the kids vs. the teens vs. the adults in a battle for the ocean crown. Will the kids be crowned reading rulers yet again? Or will the teens or grown-ups finally win the Summer Reading Challenge? Youth readers can show off their hard work by earning rare brag badges, free books, baseball tickets, and other prizes.
Use your summer break to help our library grow! Together, if we achieve our community goal of 20,000 minutes read, we’ll earn our community prizes. This year, we’ll receive a Nintendo Switch to use at library programs and an Ice Cream Party to celebrate!
Participating in the summer reading challenge helps students of all ages to fend off the summer slide, the academic backtracking kids often experience due to summer vacation.
This program is designed for kids ages 0 – 5 to encourage life-long reading habits. For each 150 minutes logged, kids will receive a brag badge showing off their hard work! As they go, kids will also earn prizes like free books, stickers, and toys. Help us read 20,000 minutes this summer and we’ll earn our community prizes, a Nintendo Switch for use in library programs and a ice cream party for all participants!
