LED Upgrade

The new LED lights will use only 40% of the energy required by the old bulbs, which will reduce the library’s energy consumption and costs. The new LED bulbs also have a greater lifespan, so they’ll need to be replaced less frequently. The new bulbs are estimated to reduce the library’s carbon emissions by 11,500 lbs. annually. This project was funded by the library with a grant from NYSEG and RG&E’s Small Business Energy Efficiency Program. The investment in the new lights should be repaid in energy savings over the next 3 years. The old bulbs and ballasts were removed and recycled by the electricians who did the retrofitting.
