Oceans of Possibility Summer Reading Baseball Raffle (All ages, grown-ups included!) Start your summer reading early! Log your reading and collect raffle tickets before 7/15 for your chance to win tickets to Hudson Valley Renegades or Danbury Westerners Games for the whole family. We’ll pull winners for the baseball raffle on 7/15/2022! Two lucky participants will win a family four-pack of tickets to a Hudson Valley Renegades game. This prize includes tickets and team caps for any available home Renegades game in Wappingers Falls, NY. This MiBL Yankee Affiliate team puts on family-friendly games at Dutchess Stadium, often including fireworks and kids’ competitions! 20 or more participants will win tickets family pack tickets to see the Danbury Westerners play at Rogers Park in Danbury. The Westerners were the NECBL Champions in 2021 and with the park so close to home, it’s an easy outing for the family. Participants do not have to be present to win. Oceans of Possibility Summer Reading Challenge (All ages, grown-ups included!) Program runs 6/20 – 8/20 The 2022 Summer Reading Challenge has something for everyone! Whether your family is motivated by helping our community, earning brag badges that show off kids’ reading accomplishments, or a love of ice cream and other rewards, like free books and toys, we’ve got a challenge for you. Participants simply record the time they spend reading (or being read to) on a paper reading log or on our website. For each 150 minutes read, kids will earn brag badges they can wear or attach to their backpack. There’s other incentives kids can earn along the way too, like free books, stickers, and raffle tickets for bigger prizes, like HV Renegades Baseball tickets or a Kindle Fire. When participants read 1,200 minutes or more over the summer, they’ll earn a certificate of achievement. This event is now take-away kits only. You can choose from a variety of projects including Valentine Gnomes, String Hearts and Love-You-To-Pieces Wreaths that you can give as gifts or keep for yourself. Take-away kits will be available by request while supplies last, beginning Monday, February 7th. Please indicate which craft kit you would prefer.
The library and Sunflour Bakery have partnered to take family bonding time to the next level. These gingerbread kits include a gingerbread house, plus everything you’ll need to put together and decorate your creation. Due to demand, we are currently limiting kits to one per family. Kits are for families with youth 18 years old or under. The kits must be picked up from the library during our regular operating hours. Our staff will email you when kits are ready, sometime during the week of 12/8-12/15. The frosting, cookies, and candy may contain gluten, eggs, and dairy. The kits are nut free, but some candy may be made in a nut environment. Registration required. Click here to register.
