Vote: President of the Library Books!

Time to show up for your favorite characters! Did you know that for the last two months, youth in our community have put together nominations for the next President of the Library Books?  Well, now it’s time to vote for the winners! Help us pick which characters you think would make the best leader! Visit https://www.pawlingfreelibrary.org/election/ to vote, from October 26 – November 3. One winner will be chosen for the Children’s division (Ages 5-10) and one for the Teen division (Ages 11-18). Winners will be announced November 3. The president of the library is a leader, chosen by popular vote, who is in charge of all of the other book characters in the library. To win the President of the Library election, a character must be nominated by a teen or child. Each participant has written a platform for their selected character that describes the characters beliefs and what they would do as president. Anyone is eligible to vote.

President of the Library Books Creative Writing Contest  (Grades K-12) Entries due October 23 Calling all imaginations! It’s time to get creative. The library book characters on our shelves are electing a president this year, and they need your help!  Students in grades K-12 can fill out our creative writing nomination form, telling us what book character they think would make a good president and why. Are they strong and smart? Kind and brave? Would they pass laws to protect animals or give out free cake to everyone? Nominated characters will go head to head in elections, where our community will decide who should be the next Library Book Presidents, based on their nominations! One winner will be decided for the Children’s division (ages 5-10) and one for the Tween/Teen division (ages 11-18). Each division’s winning nomination will win our grand prizes; a new Kindle Fire! Additional winners will receive recognition and books. Twodaloo Toddlers! (1.5-3.5 years and a caregiver)

Fridays 10:00 – 10:30 am – Ms. Neena Program runs nine weeks, September 21- November 21. Register for as many or as few as you are able to attend. This program is held live over Zoom. Join us as we sing, read, and play together. Kids love socializing with friends and singing along to favorites from the library. Each week’s story and songs will connect to the learning activity in Twodaloo Activities. Kids are given opportunities to participate in each class. Caregivers are required to remain in the same room as any child under 5 years old. Registration is required to access the secure Zoom link. Click here to register.

Supply kits available for pickup. Our activity kits guarantee at home learning experiences that focus on Kindergarten Readiness. We’ll include everything you’ll need for a weekly pre-prepped art project, game, or experiment. Each week’s learning activity will connect to the stories and songs in Read and Play Live. Each week, we’ll release a new video tutorial that walks children through the process of creating their own story and the pictures too! Prereaders/writers may need some adult assistance. All program materials available at no cost via kits available for pickup. Can’t watch at 1:00 pm? After picking up your kit, you can complete the activity anytime, anywhere.
