National Diabetes Prevention Program / Online with Lonna Kelly Thursday, January 28 6:30-7:30 pm The program starts on Thursday, January 14, and is ongoing throughout the year. You can register below or by contacting Donald, our Adult Program Coordinator, at adult@pawlinglibrary.org.  The Pawling Library and Putnam Independent Living Services are partnering to offer you the National Diabetes Prevention Program.  Are you prediabetic?  Work with a trained lifestyle coach and a CDC approved curriculum to prevent or delay types 2 diabetes. Please join us and learn how to write your family and personal history. Our presenter Robin Lester will help you get started. You can do it. Surprise your children and grandchildren who’ve wanted you to do this. The biggest surprise for you will be in recalling your wonderful life! About our presenter: Robin Lester is a historian, writer and retired teacher. He has led the Hull House Oral History project in Chicago and the gathering of memories among former members of the Henry Street Settlement House in New York. He is in the process of preserving his family history in a narrative.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR Deceember 12, 2020. For more information, contact us at children@pawlinglibrary.org   We’ve put all efforts into making this year’s visit with Santa and safe as possible. Families register for a 10 minute time block to share wish lists and chat with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Limit: ten minutes per family Santa and Mrs. Claus will be inside the library building, wearing their masks and registered families will be outdoors, also wearing masks and social distancing. All interaction will happen through a window. Our scheduling plan will allow families to safely participate one at a time. Important notes: Masks and social distancing will be heavily enforced and individuals who do not comply will not be permitted to participate. Participants two years and up must wear a mask. Saturday, 10/03, 2:00 – 2:45 pm – Live on Zoom Local author and leader in education, Obed Figueroa, recently released the book Marcus Learns About the Different Types of Doctors. The story takes the title character (and readers!)  through a community health center, where Marcus meets many different healthcare professionals, and learns about how they help his community. Join us for a Live Zoom with the author, who will read from the book, show off some real tools doctors use every day, and answer questions about doctors’ lives. Registration required.
