This program starts in the main library and ends in the library annex.

We love stories! Each week, we will dive into gorgeous picture books and have fun making connections to what we read. Program includes art or sensory activity, songs, and more. All activities designed to help foster a love of reading and prepare children for kindergarten.

Caregivers must remain in the library with children who are not fully potty trained.

    Alternating Tuesdays (1/14, 1/28, 2/11, 2/25, 3/10) 4:15-5:15 pm – Phil and Suzanne

    Registered therapy dogs Marcie and Alexander love stories, cuddles, and making new friends! Children can sign up for a 15 minute session with these pups, and read to them in a low-stress environment.
    Perfect for emerging and struggling readers!

    Teachers say that the skills that lead to the most student success in school are their social and emotional skills. Join us to help develop these skills, all while children play! This supervised hour of fun provides a large space for children to meet and play, either inside or out, depending on the weather. Bring a favorite toy or game and invite a friend!

    Does your baby love to bounce and play? Join Ms. Neena for a story, singing, and rhyming sure to get baby giggling. All activities are designed to enhance attention and focus, familiarize children with the fundamentals of reading and talking, and instill a love of reading. The program ends with a 10-15 minute social play session or baby-safe art activity.

    Alternating Thursdays (1/30, 2/13, 2/27, 3/12) 4:00-5:00 pm – Ms. Neena

    What do scavenger hunts, petri dishes, and jumping jacks all have in common? They can all teach us something about the human body! Participants will help gather and observe germ specimens from around our library, learn how to measure their heart rate, and more!

    Caregivers are welcome, but not required. Registration is required.

    On Friday mornings, kids rule the library! Join Ms. Neena, while the library is still closed, for an uninhibited, fun and loud story time. This program incorporates sensory, art, storytelling, music, and movement all in one to prepare children to read, write, and think critically. Topics vary by week, and the program ends with activity stations. Parents and caregivers required to remain in the library for the duration of the program.

    Friday, 2/28, 1:00-2:00 pm - Ms. Neena

    Local ballerina, dance teacher, and reading role model Rachel Hamdan will stop by the library for a very special story hour. She will bring costumes, shoes, and go over a few basic moves with attendees. We suggest families discuss what questions kids may want to ask Rachel, as there will be time for Q&A.

    Caregivers are required to remain in the library for the duration of the program. Registration is required.
