09/29/2022 This program welcomes middle-school-age homeschoolers to get together and socialize while we play games, complete art activities, and complete learning challenges. This session will focus on rockets! We'll build and launch some different kinds. Come early and spend time with the younger kids and their families!

To be held outside in the Courtyard. Registration is requested.

    For those who love to craft, do art, and make things. We'll explore a variety of mediums and themes during this monthly program for grade 5 and up. This month's theme is Valentine's Day and we'll make a variety of crafts that you can give as gifts or keep for yourself. Additional meeting dates: 3/8.

    2/10/2023  We can all agree the best part of Valentine’s Day is the candy! At this celebration of all things chocolate, tweens and teens can make their own molded chocolates, play chocolate trivia and other games and vote for your favorite chocolate bar! For grades 5 & up.     Teens & tweens will learn to make simple snacks and meals at this bi-weekly program. Basic cooking tips and—safe—techniques will be shown and recipes will be tried and tasted. For grades 5 & up. Registration is required: please include any food allergies on the registration form. Alternate Tuesdays: 1/31; 2/14; 2/28;  & 3/14. Registration opens Wednesday, January 4th.

    This is a year-round volunteer opportunity for ages 11 & up. The group will meet twice a month to plan or work on service projects to benefit the Library and the Pawling community.

    Meeting dates: The first and third Wednesday of each month at 5 pm to 6:30 pm. There may be additional dates depending on the project. Registration is requested. Please note, the registration link will only display the final date for the program. However, this program will run from September to June.

    The Pawling Library is now a Volunteer Certification Organization through the Points of Light Organization. Volunteers who meet the required annual hours for their age group will be recognized with a letter from the President of the United States and possibly other awards. Each session's theme will be announced. Families are welcome to come early to socialize with each other. Meeting dates: January 19th; February 16th & March 16th. Registration is required.

    A new, 3-part season begins January 20th. This role-playing adventure will be led by Dungeon Master Ted Bushman and is open to tweens & teens in 5th grade and up. Registration is required and begins January 4th.

    Ted Bushman is a fantasy/science fiction author, actor, and writer of musicals, and has more than a decade's experience in interactive storytelling. His games are about wonder, imagination, and character. He loves empowering players to role play and tell the stories that excite them.

    Through a generous donation from MagiKids.org, we are offering this series to learn and play Magic: The Gathering card game based on their “Sort.Build.Play.” theory. We will sort the cards at the first meeting then we’ll build our decks and begin to play. For grades 5 & up. All experience levels are welcome. Registration is required. We will meet in the Annex on alternate Tuesdays: 1/24; 2/7; 2/21; & 3/7.  Registration opens Wednesday, January 4th.

    02/22/2023 Love to read and do trivia?  If the answer is yes, this is the program for you! The Pawling Library is forming teams for the 2023 Mid-Hudson Battle of the Books. The program is open to students currently in 4th through 8th grade for the Middle School team and currently in 8th through 12th grades for the High School team. All participants will receive copies of the books to keep and have the experience of teamwork and good sportsmanship. Join us for this information meeting to learn all the details about the program and the books that have been chosen for this year. Registration requested.

    The Pawling Library is partnering with Pawling Recreation for this special monthly program for families that homeschool. Katriina Bronnimann will lead students in 1st through 8th grade as they learn how to speak in a public setting. Participants can choose their topic based on these monthly themes:

    January 26: How to make something (with step-by-step instructions); February 23: Give a book review;  March 23: Create an ad to sell something

     Registration is required.
