Each month, in a respectful and open environment, we will explore a new topic led by a different community leader.

At the start of the program, we will be watching a 16-minute TED TALKS video, entitled “Stand with Ukraine in the fight against evil," with chess player turned politician Garry Kasparov.

Following the viewing, we will open up a group discussion led by Dr. Joseph Baxer of the United Nations Association of Connecticut. He will discuss how this anti-Putin TED TALK intersects with the values and positions of the United Nations, and then invite participants to discuss their own responses and points of view.

Our wellness as individuals and as a community depends on continued sharing, support and conversation in times of celebration as well as in times of conflict.

Come Together and join us in fostering deeper conversations, listening to disparate experiences and points of view in the realm of challenging contexts. The opinions expressed by the video presenter, conversation facilitator, and program participants are welcomed for the purpose of fostering discussion and reflection, but are not intended to represent the views of the Pawling Free Library.

We understand that these conversations could be difficult to have, and believe that by coming together to find the willingness to listen and learn, we can aspire to create a stronger Pawling, where ALL community members feel safe, welcome and represented.

This program is being provided through a partnership with the Pawling Library and Pawling Yoga & Wellness. https://pawlingyogawellness.org

About our presenter: Dr. Joseph Baxer is President of the United Nations Association of Connecticut and previous US representative to the United Nations for the London based NGO, Strategies for Peace. The muscular system aids in movement, blood flow, and other bodily functions. The muscular system is made of three different types of muscles. (1) Skeletal muscles that are connected to bone and aid in voluntary movement. (2) Smooth muscles that are found inside organs and help to move substances through organs. (3) Cardiac muscles that are found in the heart and help pump blood.

Muscle disorders include a large group of conditions which fall under the umbrella terms of muscular dystrophy (a genetic disorder), neuromuscular conditions, and neuromuscular disorders. These conditions can affect skeletal muscles (and may overlap with skeletal issues), organs such as the heart and lungs (and may overlap with cardiovascular or respiratory issues), as well as muscles in the arms and legs. These disorders may cause weakness, loss of motor function (cerebral palsy), or paralysis even in the presence of an intact nervous system. Other conditions include: myasthenia gravis, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), rhabdomyolysis, mitochondrial myopathies, fibromyalgia, gout, lupus, bursitis tendinitis, myositis, dermatomyositis, and polymyositis (inflammation and progressive weakening of the skeletal muscles), rotator cuff injury, myofascial pain, muscle cramps, and sprains or strains.

Ayurveda identifies the particular dosha imbalance and corrects it with treatment and remedies.
