Looking for a way to celebrate summer? Pawling teens work hard all summer long prepping fun games and crafts for our end of summer celebration. Stop in for a space themed snacks and the chance to win prizes, like back to school baskets.

 

This event is free and open to the public--no registration required. Stop in and join us!

    This program includes songs, stories, and games plus 20 minutes of play-based learning stations, like art, blocks, or fine motor play. While activities vary week to week, messy materials and smocks are occasionally used. We may play outdoors if weather allows.

    Interactive story time featuring puppets, instruments, and elements of music & movement. Program ends with play. This eight week program series may include outdoor playtime if weather allows. 

    This class is also held on Thursdays, due to demand. Registration for those dates is separate under "Toddlers in Training: Thursdays."

    6/09/2023  This is a makeup session for the April cancellation. This role-playing adventure will be led by Dungeon Master Ted Bushman and is open to tweens & teens in 5th grade and up. Registration is required.

    Ted Bushman is a fantasy/science fiction author, actor, and writer of musicals, and has more than a decade's experience in interactive storytelling. His games are about wonder, imagination, and character. He loves empowering players to role play and tell the stories that excite them.

    Join Bedtime Math’s Crazy 8s Club, where you’ll build stuff, run and jump, make music, make a mess—It’s a totally new kind of math club designed to make math concepts fun! Make mischief and memories with activities like Glow-in-the-Dark Geometry, Bouncy Dice Explosion and Pirate Treasure Hunt. See below for a week by week activity breakdown: 

    Week 1. Glow-in-the-Dark Geometry: Make geometric shapes using glow sticks. Lay out the
    sticks to create mystical repeating patterns. Then flick off the lights to see it all glow!

    Week 2. Beach Ball Party: This is a party you won’t want to miss! You’ll use our star-studded
    beach ball to play volleyball, then go gaga chucking the ball againsthttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/597905741167 targets to score points.

    Week 3. Spy Training: See if you have what it takes to be a spy. You’ll break different codes for
    clues to find the hidden treasure!

    Week 4. Daring Darts: Supersize the fun in this giant game of floor darts! Once we learn how to
    keep score, we’ll use hacky sacks to play a few rounds.

    Week 5. Crazy Card Club: Crazy 8s isn’t just the name of our club; it’s also a famous card
    game! Learn how to play it and other fun games using a deck of cards you get to keep!

    Week 6. Bouncy Dice Explosion: Your big chance to throw things because you’re supposed to.
    Find out the probability of rolling a 2 or a 5, then try to be the winning chip on a giant Bingo
    board.

    Week 7. Pirate Treasure Hunt: Map out coordinates to create a secret picture. Use your skills to
    find the treasure before the pirates do!

    Week 8. Flying Fuzzies: Send fuzzy pom-pom balls flying through the air using popsicle sticks
    and rubber bands. Figure out what launch positions work best, then measure the flight to prove
    it.

    Members of the Pawling Library's VounTeens group will be available to help senior citizens with computer-related questions and problems at this weekly drop-in session. Please bring your device and/or library card and a volunteer will work one-on-one with you. Appointments are not necessary.The help sessions will take place in the Teen Space.

    The middle school Battle of the Books team will meet on alternate Mondays at 5 pm in the Library Annex. This team is open to students currently in 4 through 8th grades.

    Battle of the Books is a Mid-Hudson Library System-wide program that introduces participants great books, teamwork, and friendly competition. The Regional Battle is to be held between 9/8 - 9/11. The Final Battle will be held on Saturday, 9/16.

    Registration for the in-person children's programs on our summer schedule begins June 14. And don't forget to join in the Summer Reading Challenge to help us earn our community prizes!

    Children's Programs include all events for youth and their caregivers ages 0-10.  We welcome all families and events are free to attend. However, we give priority admission to families who sign up in advance. While we try to welcome drop-ins whenever possible, we cannot always do so due to our small spaces. We encourage you to sign up or join the wait list if you plan to attend.
