Caregiver Programming: Free General Parent Support Group

For Parents of children 0-5 years old

Our library has partnered with experienced therapist and support group leader, Stephanie Sandler, PH D, LMHC of Becoming Mental Health Counseling, and other area libraries to provide caregivers a supportive space for themselves. Join a community of parents dealing with the unexpected hurdles of parenting young children during the Coronavirus epidemic together. During a time of increased isolation, finding ways to connect with other parents and families with common experiences can be refreshing and beneficial. This program is participant driven, and it is recommended for optimal support that participants attend as regularly as they are able. However, interested caregivers are welcome to attend as few or as many as they can. All participants must adhere to group guidelines and norms to maintain a comfortable, welcoming, and safe atmosphere for all.

*This support group is not considered a therapeutic support group. Though led by a mental health professional with experience in supporting parents and families, this support group does not take the place of personalized mental l health treatment, and should not be treated as such.

    Summer Sensory: Cloud Dough

    Also available as a take home kit, available for pickup to do at home.

    Taste safe sensory play helps children connect what they see, hear, touch and smell to learning concepts. Work together to make cloud dough, a super soft play material. Smocks available for children at the in-person event, but we suggest all wear clothes that can get messy. Register here.

Become friends with a real princess or hero as they read, sing, tell engaging stories, and play games together -- Plus, she will respond to your child's live comments by name! This is the sixth in a series of eight programs. Watch live on Thursday, August 12th, at 4:30pm to participate in the interactive experience and be automatically entered to win a video call from Captain Marvel!

    Wizard of Oz Family Block Party

    (All ages and a caregiver)

    Saturday, 8/28 12:30 – 3:00 PM – Lakeside Park

    The library is celebrating 100 years! Our end of summer party aims to connect back to the time of the library's founding in 1921 through L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The world of Dorothy, Toto, and Oz will be at the heart of this year's event, which will feature inflatables, music, and a Wizard of Oz themed costume contest. Additionally, families will be invited to “Dunk the Wicked Witch" and members of the library's staff at a dunk tank and challenged to follow the yellow brick road in our games! No registration is required for this Centennial Committee sponsored event.

    Unvaccinated patrons over the age of two MUST wear a mask while attending in-person library events. This means children ages 3- 12 must be masked at events, even outdoors.
