Thursdays 1:00-2:00 pm – Ms. Neena, Main Library and Annex

Children need to know the fundamentals of reading in order to succeed in kindergarten. We’ll play with letters, the sounds and words they make, and the stories they tell in this exciting program. Program ends with a book-inspired craft/activity that is designed to develop the skills children need in school. Let’s read together!

    Does your baby love to bounce and play? Join Ms. Neena for a story, singing, and rhyming sure to get baby giggling. All activities are designed to enhance attention and focus, familiarize children with the fundamentals of reading and talking, and instill a love of reading. The program ends with a 10-15 minute social play session or baby-safe art activity.

    New school year, new LEGO club. Come meet other LEGO fans and build together. Participants can free build or try their hand at Ms. Neena’s STEAM challenge.

    Friday, 10:30- 11:30 am -Ms. Neena, Main Library

    On Friday mornings, kids rule the library! Join Ms. Neena, while the library is still closed, for an uninhibited, fun and loud story time. This program incorporates sensory, art, storytelling, music, and movement all in one to prepare children to read, write, and think critically. Topics vary by week, and the program ends with activity stations. Parents and caregivers required to remain in the library for the duration of the program.

    This program serves a wide variety of purposes and welcomes homeschoolers of all ages to create an inclusive space for discussion and social learning. Activities based around family’s needs are implemented, freeing caregivers up to come together, support, and learn from one another.

    Meet every other Saturday to do a different fun craft! Have fun with your friends while crafting with perler beads, washi tape, and more. Parents and guardians welcome, but not required to stay.

    Friday, November 30th, from 1:00-2:00 pm -- Library Annex

    Homeschool families are invited to join us as we gather to do some good for the community. We will put together sunshine baskets to kick off the winter holiday season. These baskets, filled with necessities and small gifts will be donated to the Pawling Resource Center after the conclusion of the event. Though there is no cost to participate, homeschooling families are responsible for purchasing the materials for the baskets and bringing them for use in the program. Should this be a problem for your family, but you still wish to participate, please contact Children's Programs Coordinator, Neena McBaer in advance of the program at children@pawlinglibrary.org or 845-855-3444.

    It’s easy to tell a story with the right inspiration! Participants will receive a gingerbread man to decorate with provided supplies, then, in small groups, will write a group story featuring the characters they have created. Please notify Ms. Neena of children’s food allergies prior to program.

    Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be making their annual visit to our library in the month of December. Families with children of all ages are invited to meet with the couple, have a photo taken, and receive a small toy or book to take home. Don’t want to stand in line? Register now so we can reserve time for your family, and you won't have to wait so long out in the cold!

    Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, we hold special one-time events instead of weekly programs. Join us as we celebrate winter and The Holidays in this special story hour designed especially for preschoolers to enjoy. Features favorite songs like “Snowflake, snowflake,” and mess-free crafts perfect for holiday gifting or hanging up at home.
