Sep/Wed/2021 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

The Pawling Library is Celebrating its Centennial.

For this program we are not only commemorating our library’s anniversary but bringing  people together through their passion for great literary works.

We have selected four classic novels, one for each season, that were popular in the 1920s when our library first came into being.

Our presenter, Stephanie Rogers, will be reading an excerpt  from each novel and then lead a Q & A for our audience. Stephanie Rogers is the author of The Horse I Belong To: How a Misused and Almost Forgotten Grade Mare Showed Me the Way.

The Pawling Library is proud to be partnering with our neighbors Pawling Recreation, the Book Cove and the Pawling Resource Center.

To participate in this program, order a copy of A Passage to India through our library. You can also support our partner, the Book Cove, by purchasing this classic novel from our favorite book store. A Passage to India was written by E. M. Forster and published in 1924.

Thank you for growing with us throughout the years.

On September 29th our presenter, Stephanie Rogers, gave a short dramatic reading of A Passage to India our audience. Click on the link below to view.

Each month, in a respectful and open environment, we’ll explore a new topic led by a different community leader.

At the start of the program, we’ll be watching a 20-minute TED TALKS video, entitled Your Elusive Creative Genius by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Following the viewing, we’ll open up a group discussion led by Diane Ingram.

Our wellness as individuals and as a community depends on continued sharing, support and conversation in times of celebration as well as in times of conflict.

Come Together and join us in fostering deeper conversations, listening to disparate experiences and points of view in the realm of challenging context such as racism, sexism, bipartisanship, whiteness and social justice.

We understand that these conversations could be difficult to have, and believe that by coming together to find the willingness to listen and learn, we can aspire to create a stronger Pawling, where ALL community members feel safe, welcome and represented.

This program is being provided through a partnership with the  Pawling Library and Pawling Yoga & Wellness.

Each of us has a wealth of memories.

The goal of this once a month program is writing your life stories.

At every gathering each person has 10 minutes to share a story with our group members in a very supportive environment. No one’s work and writing skills are ever critiqued. Your unique style of writing is the right way to write.

Please join us every month. Relive your memories that will one day become your memoir.

Surprise your family who’ve wanted you to do this. The biggest surprise you’ll find is recalling the stories of your life.

We look forward to seeing you.
