    On Friday mornings, kids rule the library! Join Ms. Neena, while the library is still closed, for an uninhibited, fun and loud story time. This program incorporates sensory, art, storytelling, music, and movement all in one to prepare children to read, write, and think critically. Topics vary by week, and the program ends with activity stations. Parents and caregivers required to remain in the library for the duration of the program.

    Thanksgiving Sunshine Gift Basket Making at the Pawling Resource Center

    The Pawling Library is partnering with our friends at the Pawling Resource Center for The Great Give Back, a day in which libraries offer our patrons the opportunity to help people in their community. The Resource Center is looking for at least 8 people to help them assemble Thanksgiving Sunshine Gift Baskets on Saturday, October 19, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. These baskets are very important to the recipients, some of whom are recovering in hospitals and nursing homes. You can also help by donating food and toiletries that can be used to fill the gift baskets.

    The items needed are small-sized containers of the following:

    Cookies, crackers, hard candies, mints, teas, fruit cups, jams, hand lotion, hand soaps, tissues, emery boards, nail clippers, sachets… and anything else you think might be a nice addition! Donations can be dropped off at the Resource Center up until Saturday, October 19.

    We thank you so very much for volunteering your time and lighting up the lives of people in need.

    Advanced Care Planning….. what does that mean in terms of my health decisions and what are the forms I need to know about?

    What is the difference between a Living Will and a MOLST form?

    Do I need a DNR and a Health Care Proxy?

    Laura Palermo from Hudson Valley Hospice will review and explain these forms and answer any questions you may have about them.

    Laura Palermo is also a notary should you want to complete the forms with her help and have them notarized that night!

    The Blue Olive: Autumn Recipes

    The Pawling Library will host The Blue Olive for another special event exploring the many ways to use extra virgin olive oil and aged vinegar. Co-founder John Canevari will lead an interactive tasting seminar to guide the class through several unique palette-pleasing recipes.

    Guests will have the opportunity to taste each recipe and take notes on the preparation and cooking process used to create each dish. The Blue Olive is excited to share brand new products and fantastic recipes from their test kitchen with new cooks and experienced chefs alike.

    Program fee: $10.00
