Ebooks Just Got Easier

Try OverdriveThe Pawling Library has recently upgraded its account with Overdrive, our supplier of eBooks and downloadable audiobooks.

If you haven’t used Overdrive before, there’s never been a better time to start. You can access our collection by visiting the Mid Hudson Overdrive website or by downloading the Overdrive app (available for Android, Apple, and Kindle devices).

If you are already an Overdrive user, there are three changes you may have noticed to the way Overdrive works at the Pawling Library.

Recommend

If you have searched Overdrive recently, you may have already noticed that there is now a “Recommend to Library” feature”. For titles that are not currently part of our Overdrive collection, patrons now have the option of letting us know that they would be interested in us purchasing these titles.

Libby app(Please note that eBooks generally cost the library at least three times as much as print books, so we are unable to purchase all titles recommended to us. Still, we would love to know what you are interested in, and do investigate every purchase recommendation.)

Libby

Overdrive has a new app available, named Libby. The app is a sleek way to search for items, manage your account, and access downloaded eBooks and audiobooks. If you prefer the traditional Overdrive app, no problem- the old app is still available. Libby is a second option, though, for those who want a more integrative user experience.

Shorter lines

Overdrive promoStarting June 1st, Pawling patrons will be first in line for any items purchased specifically by the Pawling Library. The majority of eBooks available through Overdrive are purchased centrally by the Mid-Hudson Library System. However, in addition to those titles, the Pawling Library makes additional purchases based on the interests and requests of Pawling patrons. For these titles, Pawling patrons will automatically jump to the front of the line any time they place a hold on an item.

If you would like any assistance using Overdrive, please give the library a call. We would be glad to help you. If you would like to bring your mobile device to the library, we could even walk you through any part of the process that you would like. We are always glad to help.
