Dutchess County to Host Special Needs Movie Day

Saturday, April 23rd at Roosevelt Cinemas in Hyde Park

Poughkeepsie… As Dutchess County continues to celebrate April as Autism Awareness Month, County Executive Marcus Molinaro invites children with special needs, their families and support agencies to a free movie event on Saturday, April 23rd at 10 a.m. at the Roosevelt Cinemas, 4060 Albany Post Road (Route 9) in Hyde Park. The theater will adjust both lighting and sound to make the experience more enjoyable for children on the autism spectrum or who experience sensory issues.

County Executive Molinaro said, “Our movie day is great example of how we in Dutchess County Government THINK DIFFERENTLY about our neighbors of all abilities – giving our children with special needs and their families a morning of stress-free fun in a welcoming environment. While a trip to the movie theater can be a challenge for families of children with special needs, we’re happy to provide them this opportunity to enjoy time with their loved ones in a supportive atmosphere.”
