Read, Learn and Play during International Games Day @ the Pawling Library

Saturday, November 15th from 10 am – 4 pm the Pawling Library will join thousands in celebrating the popularity and power of games and play. Like so many other libraries across the country and around the world, we will offer special gaming programs and events suitable for the whole family.

“Libraries are becoming family destinations, and are continuously offering new formats and innovative programs and services that educate, entertain and expand interaction with their users,” said Casey Conlin, Director of the Pawling Library. “Gaming is yet another example of how libraries are becoming more than just educational resources for the communities that they serve. They are also places where users of all ages are welcome to have fun together. And if that fun exercises their brains, enables them to meet new people in a safe and enjoyable environment, and celebrates our community’s connection to each other and to libraries on every continent on Earth… well, that’s just the nature of games!”

Lots of kids play games at home – alone, with siblings or with friends. At the library, kids socialize with their friends and play board and video games while surrounded by books, librarians and knowledge. Gaming at the library encourages patrons to interact with diverse peers, share their expertise with others, including adults, and develop new strategies for gaming and learning. Families can join others in making time to play together at their library while meeting new people and trying out new games in a safe and friendly atmosphere. We’re hoping that families in an around the Pawling area will make time during the day to stop by and enjoy some game time.

Children ages 2 – 8 years can come by with their families to enjoy some great new games. Kids ages 9 years & up are welcome to stop by with a friend and see what we’ve got to offer. Games will be available from 10 am – 4 pm on a first come, first serve basis and you can come when you want and stay as long as you’d like to. So come on down &d join the fun!  Please give us a call and let us know if you plan to participate at 855-3444.
