No Outdoor Playgroup Today, 10/5

Due to ongoing rain and low temperatures, there will be no Outdoor Playgroup Program this morning, 10/5. The program will continue as scheduled next week. Meet a Mermaid at Lakeside Park!

This program is designed for families and youth of all ages. Saturday, 7/16, 1:30 -2:30 PM – Location: Lakeside Park Beachfront, 2 Lakeside Drive, Pawling NY 12564 Stop by the Lakeside beach for this magical event. Our mermaid friends will read, sing, and play with us, as well as provide opportunities for participants to ask questions and do individual meet-and-greets. This interactive program is paid for in part by Dutchess County as part of our Literacy Heroes series and will be held at Lakeside Park. Sponsored in partnership with Pawling Recreation and the Pawling Library. Please bring a blanket or beach chairs to sit on for the event. Summer Kicks off On Monday, June 20!

The Pawling Library’s Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Challenge begins on Monday, June 20th! Register online and count the time you spend reading all summer! Earn badges, free books and other prizes like baseball tickets! Help us reach our community goal of 20,000 minutes and we’ll have an ice cream party to celebrate! Plus, the Library will earn a Nintendo Switch to use during Library programs! Open to kids of all ages, teens, and adults! Register here to track online or pick up a paper log from our front desk. Teen Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for a volunteers to dress as Piggie & Gerald, or to be their guide for a special program on June 11th, beginning at 10 am. Dressed as the beloved Mo Willems characters, you will encourage the children with questions and help with the planned activity. RESCHEDULED: Wide World of Stories

Due to the Severe Storm Watch issued for Dutchess County by the National Weather Service, this afternoon’s meeting of Wide World of Stories for grades K-2 has been rescheduled for next Monday, 5/23, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM. In addition, the 5/30 meeting of the program will be moved to 6/6 due to Memorial Day closures. Wide World of Stories Kits will continue as scheduled. Kid’s Spring Programs Schedule Out Now

Have you heard? We’re back in person at the library! The full schedule of Spring Children’s programs for children ten and under is now available. Plus, we’re offering a series of parent and caregiver support programs too! We’re continuing to offer our popular activity kit programs, as well as occasional digital events. Symphony Storytime

Silly and fun performance featuring musicians from The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra. Designed for grades K-3 and their families. Got an interested youth slightly older or younger? Saturday, April 2, from 4:30 – 5:30 PM – Pawling Library Register here The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra proudly presents… Symphony Storytime is an entertaining and educational family program featuring musicians from The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra. This interactive, 50 minute program is designed for children in grades K-3 accompanied by an adult. The program pairs the reading of an award-winning picture book with music inspired by the story and performed by the musicians. The music will include familiar tunes, classical riffs, witty musical improvisations and funny sound effects – moving the story along at a lively pace. Children will also participate in activities related to the book and presentations on instruments of the orchestra. Pre-registration is required. Recycling in Dutchess County (for kids and families)

Dutchess County Recycling Educator, Kerry Russell gets specific about why recycling matters and how it works in Pawling! About this event Tuesday, 04/12, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM Outdoors, weather permitting. Otherwise indoors. Spend Spring Break learning to help our planet! Ever wonder what happens to the items we recycle? Want to know more about why we recycle? Dutchess County Recycling Educator, Kerry Russell will talk with us about why recycling matters and show us some of the ways recycled things are reused.
