Twoodalo Twos Fridays Fridays, 10:00 AM  - 11:00 AM Nine week event series, 09/18 - 11/18 NO CLASS 10/06 Age Range: 2.5 – 3.5 years & a caregiver This program includes songs, stories, and games plus 20 minutes of play-based learning stations, like art, blocks, or fine motor play. While activities vary week to week, messy materials and smocks are occasionally used. We may play outdoors if weather allows. Registration is highly suggested. Join us for as many or as few classes as you are able, but please ONLY register for the dates you will attend. Due to the number of no-shows we have had at recent events, registration is now week by week. Drop ins will be accommodated whenever space is available, but advanced registration is preferred. Note: This program is repeated twice weekly, once on Thursdays and once on Fridays.

Pine Tree Gnomes: Craft Workshop

You can also register by calling our library at 845-855-3444. Thank you. There are gnomes that only live in pine trees. These pine tree gnomes, like all gnomes, are experts in the art of camouflage. And those that are bearded can perform a clever little trick. In an instant they can make even the whitest beards look just like pine cones in both color as well as texture. We will be making pine tree gnome ornaments that will be hung on one of the many pine trees which will adorn Pawling’s Village Green. Tree decorating will take place on Saturday, November 25th. Please make some gnomes with us. You can also help with the decorating of the tree if you like. Oh, and you get to keep all the gnomes you create. Thank you pine tree gnome makers!   Age: 7 & up. Parental Supervision Required.

Join us at the table as our dungeon master, Chris Fisher guides six adventurers through a fantastical adventure using the Old School Essentials RPG system, a roleplaying game rules set that is a restatement of the original Dungeons and Dragons game from the 80's. Will you play a warrior?  A thief?  An elf?  A dwarf?  What sort of magical treasure will you find in the forgotten caves and caverns?  Find out by joining us for this exciting monthly program grade 5 and up.

Young Author Book Launch Party

Friday, November 10, 5:30 - 6:30 PM Main Library - please use the side door for entry Nine amazing young authors from our community worked hard this summer writing and illustrating a story of their own. Now, hardback copies of their books have arrived and it is time to celebrate! We invite the public to join us as we play games, snack, and preview these awesome works by elementary aged students ages 6-11. Drop in to join the fun and see the hard work these kids put in.   No registration required, drop ins welcome. All ages welcome.

Homeschool Space: Postcards to Space Monday, November 13, 2023 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Library Annex Age range: Homeschoolers in grades K-8 and their families Participate in the Postcards to Space art project before we meet Astronaut Nicole Stott on November 16. We will talk about the project, which is run by the Space for Art Foundation with groups of youth across the globe,  and each postcard's journey to space. Then, kids will work on their own to design their own postcard. Postcards will be collected and presented to Astronaut Nicole Stott during her Homeschool event on November 16 and sent to space on a Blue Origin Space ship. After their journey, the postcards will be returned to participants as a keepsake. Registration is required. Can't make it to our creation hour? This is because many of these skills are not nearly as simple as they look and are more accurately viewed as skill sets. Social skills and life skills include dozens of different skills that simply seek a common goal. Because of multiple factors that will be discussed, it’s common for autistic individuals to not fully develop these entire skill sets, even if they are proficient at some of the skills involved. This lack of fully developed skill sets leads to massive blind spots that autistic individuals like myself, as well as other professionals and educators, are far too familiar with.
