Great Stories Club: Finding Your Voice/: Encontrando Tu Voz
Pawling Library Annex 15 Broad Street, Pawling, NYPoetry Workshop based on The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. Participants will be given direction in writing their own poetry in their journals. The participants will be given the freedom to choose their own style and themes for these poems. After the participants have had sufficient time to write their poems, they will have the opportunity to share them with the group. The Pawling Library is honored to have been selected as one of 58 libraries nationwide to take part in the Great Stories Club, a reading and discussion program for underserved teens. These competitive grants are offered by the American Library Association (ALA) with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The Library has received two Great Stories Grants and will be partnering with Camino al Éxito to bring teens age 13 & up a book discussion series in English & Spanish. Pawling Library Annex 15 Broad Street, Pawling, NYThis is a year-round volunteer opportunity for ages 11 & up. The group will meet twice a month to plan or work on service projects to benefit the Library and the Pawling community. Meeting dates: The first and third Wednesday of each month at 5 pm to 6:30 pm. O.S.E. Club: A Hole in the Oak
Pawling Library Annex 15 Broad Street, Pawling, NYJoin us at the table as our dungeon master, Chris Fisher, guides six adventurers through a fantastical adventure using the Old School Essentials RPG system, a roleplaying game rules set that is a restatement of the original Dungeons and Dragons game from the 80's. Will you play a warrior? A thief? An elf? A dwarf? What sort of magical treasure will you find in the forgotten caves and caverns? Crafternoons: Zombie Barbies
Pawling Library Annex 15 Broad Street, Pawling, NYCreate your own Zombie Barbie as we get into the Halloween spirit! We’ll have old dolls for you to transform with paint, markers, glitter, and glue! The discussion will be led bilingually to accommodate all participants. We will use the incidents in the book to address wider issues that the participants may have experienced or feel passionate about. If they are comfortable with the idea, the teens can share entries from their journals. At the end of the program, the teens will be given the third book.
