Afternoon Hatha Yoga / Online Program

Thank you.   Hatha Yoga is one of the most popular relaxing forms of exercise. Spend an hour with us and enjoy a new found path to tranquility. Each session ends with a guided meditation.   Program fee: $5.00, per class. You can make a non-refundable payment using our library’s PayPal account, by check or money order. The Pawling Writers Group

Thank you.   This writing group, led by author and teacher Walter Woodhouse and author Steve Haggerty, is open to anyone ages 18 and up who has an interest in writing. We welcome books of fiction, short stories, nonfiction, and poetry. The program will run as the classic writing workshop, where participants have the opportunity to read their work and offer helpful comments to one another. Please join us for this weekly program.   About our presenters:   Walter Woodhouse: Before retiring in 2012, Mr. Woodhouse was Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for Nyack Public Schools, where he began as the English Department Chair. He also served as Assistant Headmaster at the Rockland Country Day School, where he began as a teacher. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon in Eugene, as well as an M.A. in Education from Pace University. He and his wife, Martha, raised four children in Nyack, New York before moving to Pawling, and now...

In fact, they are in active service in the treatment of PTSD, depression, in prison populations, and more. Each week we’ll be coloring a new mandala design, while also enjoying a good round of conversation. You don’t have to have a degree in art to participate…just some paper and color pencils. Each month, at these supportive meetings, we’ll be encouraging one another to maintain a nutritious, balanced diet, get plenty of exercise, and keep a positive attitude…especially when we stray from our intended goals. Some of the members of this group have completed a year-long National Diabetes Prevention Program through a partnership with Putnam Independent Living Services and the Pawling Library. The Blue Olive: Autumn Recipes

Thank you.   The Pawling Library will host The Blue Olive for another special event exploring the many ways to use extra virgin olive oil and aged vinegar. Co-founder John Canevari will lead an interactive tasting seminar to guide the class through several unique palette-pleasing recipes. Guests will have the opportunity to taste each recipe and take notes on the preparation and cooking process used to create each dish. The Blue Olive is excited to share brand new products and fantastic recipes from their test kitchen with new cooks and experienced chefs alike.

By observing the symptoms of ADHD, Ayurveda identifies that the Vata dosha – which is linked with the nervous system and brain – is out of balance. To reverse this imbalance, the qualities of the other doshas – Pitta and Kapha – are needed.
