    Early literacy is an important part of a baby’s healthy development. We read, sing, babble, and bounce together. Learn resources to use at home and meet other caregivers. Ends with social play. This program will be held outside in our courtyard as weather permits.

    Teachers say that the skills that lead to the most student success in school are their social and emotional skills. Join us to help develop these skills, as well as STEM, art, and literacy practice, all while children play! This supervised hour of fun provides a large space for children to meet and play with our outdoor play equipment, weather permitting. Please dress children for the weather and bring water. This program is designed to ease the transition to daycare, preschool, and especially kindergarten and is paid for in part by Dutchess County.

    Coloring is more than being creative, it’s a very relaxing activity that has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety.

    Each week we’ll be coloring a new mandala design, while also enjoying a good round of conversation.

    You don’t have to have a degree in art to participate…just some paper and color pencils.

    Please join us. Relax and connect with like-minded people, and add a burst of color to your day!

    Meet our pal Jackie and her pooch, Harper the reading dog! This program provides a fun, relaxed space for kids to practice reading skills and get some puppy love at the same time. Harper and Jackie are Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause trained providers, ready to provide low-stress reading practice support. This program is a great fit for kids who love to read and those who don’t, as well as kids who just want a puppy cuddle.

    At every gathering each person has 10 minutes to share a story with our group members in a very supportive environment. No one’s work and writing skills are ever critiqued. Your unique style of writing is the right way to write.

    Please join us every month. Relive your memories that will one day become your memoir.

    Surprise your family who’ve wanted you to do this. The biggest surprise you’ll find is recalling the stories of your life.

    Slow E-Motions: Music & Movement Classes with Two Right Feet

    Program runs weekly for eight weeks, 7/7 – 8/26

    A program all about learning to identify, understand, and respond positively to our emotions and feelings. This program features music, dance, and instrument activities designed to explore feelings like frustration, anger, and happiness.

    Two Right Feet’s program was developed in 200Two Right Feet Logo0 by a speech and language pathologist who also held a degree in dance. Hannah Demmerle, current program director, holds a degree in occupational therapy (COTA) and develops the group’s educational programs and curriculum. Live music and ASL (American Sign Language) are a few of the other highlights of Two Right Feet’s enrichment programs. Registration is required.     Hatha Yoga is one of the most popular relaxing forms of exercise.

    One month of yoga in August: $20.00.

    Make Me an Author

    This summer, kids and families have the opportunity to write, illustrate, and publish a real book! Kids will receive writing support from our staff and volunteers as they craft a story of their own. Then, using drawings, photos, or other art, kids will illustrate their work. In order to be published by the library, the story will need to address one of the following themes: anti-bullying, overcoming challenges, or coping with big feelings. Each participant will receive a bound version of their book to keep. Partially funded by the Dutchess County Office of Children and Family Services.

    The Diabetes Prevention Support Group / Online Program

    This program is open to all who are concerned about preventing prediabetes. Each month, at these supportive meetings, we’ll be encouraging one another to maintain a nutritious, balanced diet, get plenty of exercise, and keep a positive attitude…especially when we stray from our intended goals.

    Some of the members of this group have completed a year-long National Diabetes Prevention Program through a partnership with Putnam Independent Living Services and the Pawling Library.

    Waxy Tissue Art Kit

    This program is a take home kit; a pre-prepped learning activity for children to do at home with a caregiver. To participate, a caregiver must pick the kit up from the library once it is available.

    Let’s do painting…with water! This kit will include everything you need to produce a unique tissue art painting, simply by adding water.

    Steve Spangler Science Club

The only problem is, we’ll fly right through the Bermuda Triangle, the area in the North Atlantic where ships, planes, and people have gone missing. Will we arrive safely in San Juan or will we disappear into the Bermuda Triangle?!  Make sure you have your best observation skills and puzzle power with you as your board the flight–you may be our only hope!
