You can still access our digital collection and online services from our website, and programs scheduled in the annex building may still be scheduled. Homeschool Space: Postcards to Space Monday, November 13, 2023 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Library Annex Age range: Homeschoolers in grades K-8 and their families Participate in the Postcards to Space art project before we meet Astronaut Nicole Stott on November 16. We will talk about the project, which is run by the Space for Art Foundation with groups of youth across the globe,  and each postcard's journey to space. Then, kids will work on their own to design their own postcard. Postcards will be collected and presented to Astronaut Nicole Stott during her Homeschool event on November 16 and sent to space on a Blue Origin Space ship. After their journey, the postcards will be returned to participants as a keepsake. Registration is required. Can't make it to our creation hour? Thank you.   Autistic individuals often have undeniable specific strengths but difficulty with many of the skills necessary to navigate our world. This is because many of these skills are not nearly as simple as they look and are more accurately viewed as skill sets. Social skills and life skills include dozens of different skills that simply seek a common goal. Because of multiple factors that will be discussed, it’s common for autistic individuals to not fully develop these entire skill sets, even if they are proficient at some of the skills involved. This lack of fully developed skill sets leads to massive blind spots that autistic individuals like myself, as well as other professionals and educators, are far too familiar with.
