Early literacy is an important part of a baby’s healthy development. We read, sing, babble, and bounce together. Learn resources to use at home and meet other caregivers. Ends with social play. This program will be held outside in our courtyard as weather permits.
This is a six week program series. Attend as many or as few as you are able.
Age Range: 18 – 30 months and a caregiver

Interactive storytime featuring puppets, instruments, and elements of music & movement. Program ends with play. This is an six week series. The program or portions thereof may be held outside in our courtyard to utilize our outdoor play equipment as weather allows but fully move indoors if conditions are poor.

Our Kindergarten readiness class uses a play-based curriculum to encourage learning connections. Our small group will focus on early literacy and math skills through a combination of hands-on activities and group story time. This is an six week series. The program or portions thereof may be held outside in our courtyard to utilize our outdoor play equipment as weather allows but fully move indoors if conditions are poor. Please dress for the weather, with sunscreen and bring water.

Learn about the CT Audubon Society’s beautiful new nature preserve Deer Pond Farm that’s located only minutes from the Pawling Library in Sherman, CT. There are over 15 miles of trails to explore on 850 acres spanning Pawling, NY and Sherman, CT. Deer Pond Farm’s director, Cathy Hagadorn, will lead this informational / educational presentation. She will provide an overview of what to expect and enjoy when visiting on your own, on one of our many guided programs as well highlights of our environmental conservation work here and with community partners.
About our presenter: Cathy Hagadorn is the Director of Deer Pond Farm. Cathy, joined the Connecticut Audubon Society in the fall of 2015. In her first year, she served as the director of the Coastal Center at Milford Point. In 2017 she was then chosen to direct the newest sanctuary, Deer Pond Farm. Cathy is responsible for all startup operations for this great new center. Her growing team is made up of a dedicated and talented staff, volunteers and vendors.
Prior to joining us, she worked for the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk in the Education Department since 1999. Cathy managed the aquarium’s research and education vessel and collaborated on scientific database development for the Long Island Sound Biodiversity Census Project. She was key in developing a new business model for working with regional schools throughout the year.
Cathy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from St. Michael’s College in Vermont. Additionally, she is a Master Wildlife Conservationist volunteer for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Wildlife Division. Among other projects, her volunteer work has included many winter hours at the Shepaug Bald Eagle View in Southbury.
