Fall Children’s Programs Registration OPEN

Registration is now open for Fall 2018 Children’s Programs. Programs are available for children birth-fourth grade. Fall will run eight weeks from September 24-November 17, with special December programs to follow. Lottery registration will run September 12-17, with rolling registration to follow as space is available.  Ms. Neena and Ms. Kate are excited for what’s in store and hope you will join them in the library! Summer’s End Rockstar Bash/Library Birthday Party!

8/26, 1:00-3:00 pm, Main Library and Courtyard — Ms. Carla, Ms. Kate, and Ms. Neena All ages welcome. Free activities for children and teens. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a caregiver. Celebrate the end-of-summer, programs, AND the Library’s birthday with us! Teen volunteers have worked hard all summer to put together some rockin’ activities. Get the superstar look at our hair chalking and temporary tattoo stations, or explore our cardboard maze. Join in as we sing “Happy Birthday” and eat some cake! The event will conclude with our annual prize raffle. Up for grabs this year: a Kindle Fire 7, the chance to pie Ms. Neena in the face, and back-to-school baskets.

To be Rescheduled….Family Concert/Songwriting Program

The upcoming Lydia Adams Davis Family Concert and the Songwriting class scheduled for Wednesday, July 25th, at the Holmes Whaley Lake Civic Association are cancelled. Instead, we will be rescheduling the events for later in the summer. We look forward to working with Ms. Davis later in the summer. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes interested attendees. The Summer Reading Program for Children and Teens Starts Now!

Reading consistently each week during the summer can be enough to stop a child’s reading ability from weakening. No matter your age, reading three or more days a week is ideal. This summer, you can track your reading with the Pawling Library’s Summer Reading Program! To get started, come into the library and pick up a Summer Reading Program Booklet. Our booklets track reading week by week, giving you the freedom to set unique reading goals for your family. If you are away this summer, do not worry! You can track your reading using the Reader Zone app for your Android, Apple, or Kindle device. You can also use Reader Zone on your desktop. Create an account and use the access code pawling-free. Throughout the summer when you participate in our Summer Reading Program, you can receive weekly prizes including forever books, science and craft kits, and more. Children’s Summer 2018 Programs Registration Available

Summer is here, and there’s tons of exciting programs happening for children in the library! From Lydia Adams Davis’ family concert to our Core Literacy Camps, summer programs abound! Registration forms are available now! You can find them here. You can also stop by and pick up a form from the circulation desk or register online through our online portal.  A general guide to our programs can be found here. Registration for our summer session programs runs from Wednesday, June 13th to Monday, July 2nd. Registration is required for all events. The  registration will operate using a lottery system, as in previous years. Come drop off your form at any point during the library’s regular hours at the library’s circulation desk, pick a lottery number, and get ready for summer learning. If you register online, the computer will assign your number for you. Please plan to fill out one form per family. Teen Volunteers and LEAD Interns Needed

Calling all teens 11-18 years old! Searching for volunteer opportunities for the summer and/or interested in working with children? We need you! You are invited to apply to our summer internship program. Interns help out during the summer to make sure that all children who participate in our summer literacy programs have a wonderful and learning-filled experience. To qualify, interns must submit a volunteer application and attend a program orientation in the end of June. Welcome in Spring with New Children’s Programs!

Registration for Spring 2018 Children’s Programs has begun! Children from birth to grade four and their families are welcome to join Ms. Neena and Ms. Kate to learn, play, and grow together. Programs are free for all families. Program registration is by lottery from March 26-April 2. If you miss this window, don’t worry! Dudes and Kids Day- Let’s Make Reading Fun!

Saturday, 3/10 5:30-6:30 pm – Ms. Neena, Main Library Caregivers and children ages 4-8 are invited to participate in a series of challenges together, all of which aim to boost their reading skills. Have fun together completing tasks and competing, either against each other or together to reach the highest score! Whether just learning letters or reading whole books, this evening will provide families with fun, easy to reproduce tools that they can use at home to keep reading skills sharp! Meet the Author and the Illustrator

Holmes resident and local author Jennifer Lohrfink Morfea and illustrator Erik Draw stop by the library to read their book, The Little Hyena. The event includes a Q&A, and Erik will demonstrate his illustration techniques live. Attendees will have the chance to win signed copies of their books and participate in a fun animal art project, led by the author. Children K-4 and their families are welcome to attend. Caregivers invited, but not required. Join us and support your local community–Saturday, January 27th, 4:30-5:30 pm. Registration not required but preferred. Now that the school year is in full swing and the leaves have begun to change, we’re starting back up with the Fall season of Children’s Programs. Registration opens today and will run through September 19th. If you miss this window, don’t worry! You can still sign up for programs as space is available. To enter our lottery for program placement, download and fill out our Fall Registration Form at https://www.pawlingfreelibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/PFL-Fall-2017-Childrens-Registration.pdf. You can return it to the library by fax, email (at children@pawlinglibrary.org), or by returning it in person at the circulation desk. The circulation desk will also have copies of the form on hand for you to fill out if you stop by to register for the lottery in person.
