On Tuesday June 1st, the Pawling Library entered Stage 8 of our re-opening protocols. Masks are currently required for all unvaccinated individuals at all times. People who have been fully vaccinated may use the library without a mask in the afternoons and evenings. During the mornings, we are maintaining “vulnerable-friendly hours”, when everyone on site will wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. For all the guidelines to follow during stage 8 and more information about our re-opening procedures, please visit https://www.pawlingfreelibrary.org/re-opening-information/ We recognize that not everyone is ready to return to our building. During stage 8 we will continue to offer contactless checkout in our courtyard. For more information please visit https://www.pawlingfreelibrary.org/contactless-checkout-with-mylibro/

with Marian Grudko Wednesday, June 23 7-8 pm Click the link below to register for Poetry Workshop or contact Donald, our Adult Program Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org. https://www.pawlingfreelibrary.org/event/poetry-workshop-exploring-the-art-and-craft-of-writing-poetry-from-past-to-present/2021-06-23/ The 1920s ushered in the modern era in the world of poetry, and its influences are still going strong, 100 years later. At this workshop, we will listen to and examine the poetry of T.S. Eliot, Robert Frost, Marianne Moore and Langston Hughes. You will then be invited to read a poem of your own – and see how the grand shift in style of the earlier time still echoes in our work today. About our presenter: Marian Grudko is the author of Lucinda Snowdrop and co-author of Claudine: A Fairy Tale for Exceptional Grownups, with T.A. Young. She is also a composer and storyteller, and her work can be seen on her new and evolving YouTube channel and at soundcloud.com.
Recent visitors to Lakeside Park may have discovered a new landmark: a Little Free Library. This box was the handiwork of local Boy Scouts. Park visitors are encouraged to take a book that they are interested in reading, and to leave behind one that they have already finished. If you like the new Little Free Library, you can thank Julian, Sean, and Levi from the Boy Scouts for putting it together and the Town of Pawling for their support.
Welcome to Lonna Kelly’s Postcard Mail Art Project wherein participants creatively alter postcards to their liking, which they then mail back to our library. Let your imagination run wild. Use whatever medium you prefer to create an original work of art. Stop by our library’s circulation desk for a postcard. A different postcard (see below) will be available at our library during each season. Photographer and Mail Art fan Lonna Kelly has selected and photographed four Pawling scenes reproduced on postcards. Artwork will be scanned and posted on the websites for the Pawling Library & lonnakellystudio.com.
